Trae Young hasn’t even played a home game for the Atlanta Hawks but the rookie is already making NBA history. In just his 3rd professional game versus the Cavaliers, Young scored 35 points, got 11 assists while making six 3-point shots.

Many analysts doubted whether Young’s style of play would hurt his NBA career more than help him but clearly, it’s not, as the Hawks guard became the 1st player in history to get 35 points and 11 assists in just 3 games according to NBA Basketball-Reference’s player index.

Young also joined an elite class along LeBron James and Steph Curry as the only rookies to get 30+ points and 10+ assists in the last 20 seasons. Last time a rookie got such numbers was 8 years ago and it was none other than Curry, who analysts also questioned his style and physique at that time.
