If you had to put together a list of players who would be the first to score 50 in 2018/19 NBA season, the majority would have the usual suspects such as Harden, Davis, Lillard, Curry, Durant, James and Antetokounmpo and rightfully so. Very few and I mean very few would have Blake Griffin on that list.
Griffin was simply unguardable on the night as he scored a new career-high 50 points. Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers had no answer for the power forward as he also grabbed 14 rebounds, made 5 three-pointers, and got 6 assists in Detroit Pistons 133-132 overtime win. Last Piston player to score 50 was Rip Hamilton back in 2006.
What will go down as one of the greatest performances of his career, will help to silence Griffin’s critics (for now) as most of them have always questioned his hunger on the court especially during his time in Los Angeles with the Clippers.
